ABOUT US : What We Believe
We are American Baptists who believe that God always was and always is, and that a relationship with Him through Jesus Christ and an investment in an authentic Christian community of faith changes us and changes the world.
The Church was established by Christ to carry out God's work in the world, and by witnessing to others we can fufill His purpose. Like Jesus was baptized by John in the Bible, baptism by immersion is an outward sign that we have accepted Christ as our personal Savior and have received the Holy Spirit.
We have a strong belief in the priesthood of the believer, meaning that there is no priestly class in the church, but that we are all one in Christ. It is by coming together, ministering and supporting each other, that we grow in faith.
Just as Jesus' prayer to God in John 17:20-21 said, "I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you," brings focus to the idea that we might be one, so we believe that working together as a community of faith is not an option, but a directive of our Lord.
