Steve Dunlap, Pastor
"It is not always easy to explain how one becomes a minister," says Steve Dunlap. "It was God's idea." In 2004 Steve was licensed by our congregation after deciding that this was the path on which God was leading him. A longtime member of First Baptist, Steve did not always envision the road God was taking him down would lead in this direction. He started his career in the business world as a sales representative and a financial planner. After managing several different fast food enterprises, Steve eventually become a franchisee for Domino's PIzza, where he owned five stores in the Southwestern Pennsylvania region, managing 120 employees. He had begun sensing God working in his life as early as the 1970s, and says that what he found to be most compelling was the truth of God's Word. "Once I came to faith in Jesus Christ as my Savior and Lord, I also came to faith in His Word," Steve says. In May 2006, after working as a chaplain at Country Meadows in Bridgeville, Pa. and being an interim pastor at First Baptist, Steve was formally called and installed by a nearly unanimous vote on Palm Sunday. He has a Bachelor's degree in Christian Community Ministry from Geneva College and graduated from the Palmer Theological Seminary of Eastern University in 2013, where he received a Master's of Divinity.

Barbara (Bobbi Jo) Heastings, Organist and Choir Director
Bobbi Jo joined First Baptist in 2012 as the organist and choir director to help provide what she calls the "intrinsic spiritual rewards" of music to our congregation. A gifted musician, Bobbi Jo earned her undergraduate degree at West Chester State College with a major in music and received a master's degree in education from West Virginia University. She taught music and was a choral director in the Washington School District for 34 years before retiring in 2005 to pursue music appreciation in her personal life. An accomplished composer as well as a musician, Bobbi Jo first began composing for family and friends before starting to branch out. Local country and western singer Sandy Reeves performed one of her songs, "Within These Walls" in the '80s, and her most recent composition, the piano solo "My Peace I Give You," can be downloaded here. Come visit on Sunday morning, though, because Bobbi Jo confesses she often freestyles during preludes and offerings in the church service. At First Baptist, Bobbi Jo oversees both our adult vocal choir, the Chancel Choir, and our handbell ringers, the Jubiliers. She plays the piano and organ every Sunday, arranges all of the special guest performances and helps direct a vibrant music program in coordination with our Music Committee. She then spent 17 months at the First United Methodist Church of Bridgeville as their Administration Assistant before coming to First Baptist. She maintains the church records, publishes the monthly newsletter and weekly worship bulletins, schedules the church calendar, keeps the books, pays the bills, manages incoming messages via phone and email. She keeps us organized and on task, and we are grateful for her superb managerial talents.
